Mari Baker

Director since August 2016

Mari Baker brings an extensive background in consumer technology, small and large company management, and executive leadership roles to Blue Shield of California’s Board of Directors, most recently as director and interim chief operating officer at Velti, Inc., a global provider of mobile marketing solutions. 

Baker has also been chief executive officer of PlayFirst, Inc., a leading games publisher, and executive-in-residence at the venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caulfield and Byers, where she incubated and launched Navigenics, Inc. Previously, she led the growth of BabyCenter, Inc., including the sale to Johnson & Johnson, where she served as a company president. Baker was also a key player in the growth of Intuit, Inc. and held a number of executive positions including general manager and senior vice president.  

She also currently serves as a member of the Advisory Council for Stanford University’s Michelle R. Clayman Institute for Gender Research and a director for John Wiley and Sons. 

Baker received her bachelor’s degree in economics and sociology from Stanford University.
