Deneen Vojta, MD, is executive vice president for Health Solutions at Blue Shield of California, a nonprofit health plan with $25 billion in annual revenue serving 4.8 million members in the state's commercial, individual and government markets.

Dr. Vojta leads clinical strategy, health transformation initiatives and provider partnerships across the health plan’s extensive network, with a focus on enhancing the quality and affordability of care for its members.

Throughout her career, Dr. Vojta has bridged the gap between the academic, nonprofit and business communities to make significant improvements in the healthcare industry at scale.

Prior to joining Blue Shield, Dr. Vojta spent 16 years at UnitedHealth Group in senior executive roles, including executive vice president of Research and Development and chief physician executive of Optum Labs. At UnitedHealth, she pioneered innovations in tech-enabled services, care delivery models and consumer products, all aimed at improving health outcomes and reducing costs. She also was founder and CEO of MYnetico, a digital health platform acquired by UnitedHealth Group, and served as chief medical officer of Aria Health and Health Partners of Philadelphia. 

Much of Dr. Vojta’s work is published in academic literature, and she has also received recognition from the consumer product industry, including prestigious awards such as an Emmy and design and clinical innovation awards from the Consumer Electronics Show. 

Dr. Vojta currently serves on the governance boards of Hikma Pharmaceuticals (LSE: HIK), Sensei Biotherapeutics (NASDAQ: SNSE) and Canary Medical, as well as the advisory boards of George Institute for Global Health and the Center for Health Incentives and Behavioral Economics at University of Pennsylvania (Penn) Medicine. 

Dr. Vojta received her MD from the Temple University School of Medicine and BS in Neuroscience from the University of Pittsburgh. She served as a resident in Pediatrics and fellow in Hematology and Oncology at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
