A full selection of behavioral health providers for mental health care and substance use treatment are available. Additional specialists are included in our network if they meet our credentialing requirements to help make sure members have access to a larger number of doctors within a reasonable distance from home.
Blue Shield uses cost information to insure the Covered California plans meet the company mission of access to high-quality health care at an affordable price; providers who demonstrate cost-effective care with high quality are included in the network. Blue Shield does not use quality measures, member experience measures, and patient safety measures to select our network.
