Non contract GEMT supplemental payments

The California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) issued All Plan Letter (APL) 20-002 – Non-contract Ground Emergency Medical Transport (GEMT) payment obligations – on January 31, 2020. The APL specifies that the GEMT Quality Assurance Fee program, legislated by the state, requires that a reimbursement add-on amount be paid for GEMT services provided on and after July 1, 2019.

In accordance with APL 20-002, the following non-contracted GEMT services now qualify for an additional payment.

What provider types are eligible for this supplemental payment? 

Non-contracted GEMT providers are eligible for the supplemental payment if they have provided qualifying services on and after July 1, 2019.
 

What is the effective period for this incentive/supplemental payment? 

APL 20-002 applies to services provided by non-contracted GEMT providers on and after July 1, 2019. These supplemental payments will continue to be paid on an ongoing basis until the requirement is amended or changed by DHCS.
